Dili, 18 October 2025 — A group of 15 staff members from the Instituto Superior Dom Bosco (ISDB) and Salesian Media Center (SMC) gathered at Bosconians Cafeteria for a two-hour workshop on Timorese Labour Law, aimed at enhancing awareness of employment rights and responsibilities in Timor-Leste.
The session, facilitated by Mrs. Estefania Guterres, ran from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM and focused on key aspects of the national labour framework, including employment contracts, working hours, and the legal obligations of both employers and employees. Participants engaged in practical discussions that illustrated how legal principles apply in real workplace scenarios. The workshop also emphasized the importance of compliance with national labour laws to foster fair, ethical, and legally sound workplace environments.
“This was a valuable opportunity for staff to deepen their understanding of labour rights,” said Rosa, a staff member from the library. “It helped strengthen our professional awareness of employment standards that are essential to responsible work practices.” Organizers and attendees alike praised the event for its relevance and clarity, underscoring the need for ongoing training to ensure workplaces across Timor-Leste remain informed and compliant with evolving labour legislation.
