Feast of Saint Callistus Caravario

On 25 February 2026, the Don Bosco Higher Institute (ISDB) solemnly commemorated a day of profound spiritual, academic, and institutional significance. The celebrations commenced with a Holy Mass in honor of Saint Callistus Caravario, whose missionary witness and martyrdom continue to inspire the Salesian educational tradition. The Eucharistic celebration gathered members of the academic community, religious representatives, students, and invited guests in an atmosphere marked by gratitude and reflection.

Following the liturgical ceremony, the Institute formally inaugurated the newly elected Student Council for the 2026 academic year. The installation underscored the institution’s commitment to participatory governance, leadership formation, and the cultivation of civic responsibility among students. The newly appointed representatives pledged to serve the academic community with integrity and dedication.

The day’s program further included the official opening of the Saint Francis de Sales Square, named in honor of Saint Francis de Sales, patron of writers and a central spiritual reference for the Salesian charism. The inauguration of this new communal space, alongside an additional academic building, reflects ISDB’s ongoing infrastructural expansion and its strategic investment in educational excellence.

The celebrations culminated in the presentation of the book Responsabilidade e Esperança: Ensaio sobre ética ambiental, gerações futuras e beatitude, authored by Father Plácido Teófilo Freitas, SDB. The work offers a rigorous ethical reflection on environmental responsibility, intergenerational justice, and the theological horizon of beatitude, thereby contributing meaningfully to contemporary academic and ecclesial discourse on sustainability and moral responsibility.
