Comoro, Dili | September 20, 2025. As part of its annual gathering, the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) brought together young animators from various Salesian oratories across Timor-Leste for a weekend of formation, reflection, and celebration. The event was hosted in Comoro, Dili, with the Instituto Superior Dom Bosco (ISDB) offering its facilities for the key formation sessions.
This year’s gathering, held under the theme “Ancorados na esperança, peregrinos com os jovens” (“Anchored in hope, pilgrims with the young”), reflects the 2025 Strenna of the Rector Major of the Salesians.
The event commenced on Friday, September 19, with a solemn Mass presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Virgilio do Carmo da Silva, SDB. The following morning, participants undertook a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Dili. There, they participated in the sacrament of reconciliation followed by a Eucharistic celebration.
In the afternoon of September 20, participants attended a formation session at ISDB, focused on the saints of the Salesian Family. The session aimed not only to introduce the lives of these saints but also to inspire the young leaders by highlighting their witness to the virtue of hope—echoing the theme of this year’s gathering.
The evening concluded with a festive moment of cultural and artistic expression, as various oratories presented songs, dances, and short dramas, fostering a spirit of joy and unity among the youth.
The gathering concluded on Sunday, September 21, with a final Mass celebrated by Fr. Anacleto Pires, SDB, Provincial of the Salesians in Timor-Leste and Grand Chancellor of ISDB.
This annual event continues to serve as a vital moment of spiritual nourishment, formation, and community for the young animators who serve in Salesian settings nationwide
